6. ROSTERING CHANGES

Shifts may have varying start and finish times or locations at North Adelaide or Toorak Gardens each week or from roster to roster to accommodate expected operational needs. Unexpected operational needs can arise, and staff may be asked at short, but reasonable, notice to change a rostered start and finish time or shift location. Please advise the degree to which you expect to be able to accommodate these variations and changes. Select any that apply:

8 (b) A child is throwing cushions in the waiting room. What are a couple of strategies you, as the receptionist, could try to resolve the problem?

8 (c) A newborn is crying and distressed after an examination with the doctor. You are the receptionist. Who else could be feeling distracted and upset in response to the distressed baby and what could you do to help?

9 (a) Prosper Paediatrics' staff work as a team on a shared digital reception and at two sites. The administrative supports for private paediatric medical services are complex and often involve multiple steps. Could you suggest a brief explanation of why a Soccer, Footy, or Netball team may be like our Prosper Paediatrics Team.

9 (b) What are some small ways in which you could contribute to a posititve atmosphere and daily team outcomes if your were a receptionist on that team.

9 (c) It appears that another receptionist has made a mistake (eg giving the wrong appointment information etc) and the patient is upset or annoyed about it. How would you respond to this patient?

9 (d) All staff are required to share responsibility for spot cleaning, set-up, cleaning and tidying of consulting, reception, waiting, kitchen and bathroom areas during each shift. Leaving the desk to attend to these tasks helps promote better workplace health. Would you have any concerns about that?

11 (a) New staff are trained on the job. We supervise closely and start with simpler tasks that introduce and help you learn our systems and procedures. As you master these, we introduce further training and tasks. Are you happy to learn in this way?
