Patients-New, Current or Returning

Who is a New Patient?

A New Patient is not a current or returning patient.

Current and Returning Patients?

A Returning Patient is a patient who

has not seen their paediatrician for over 2 years and

  • Did not have a review appointment booked.

  • had not transferred to and has been under the care of another paediatrician during that intervening time.

A Current Patient has been seen in the last 2 years and will generally have a review appointment booked or have been recommended to have this by their paediatrician.

Siblings of Current Patients

New Patients who are siblings of a current or returning patient.

  • The paediatricians try, where possible, to accept referrals of siblings and value the enhanced continuity of care made possible when siblings can receive care from the same specialist. Currently, however, they may need to decline some non-urgent sibling referrals.
