Your Provider’s Fee Schedule
Your provider's fees
The fee for your appointment will be billed by your provider at their discretion and may vary depending on the nature of the consultation and their judgment as to the most appropriate MBS item.
After payment of the fee, and if eligible, Medicare will rebate a portion of the fee, leaving a "gap" or out-of-pocket cost.
Medicare requires a valid referral and your child's attendance during their appointment.
The first appointment for a New or Returning Patient is usually substantially higher than fees for review appointments. This is due to the additional costs associated with intake and initial care of a New or Returning Patient.
More information about New, Current and Returning Patients and Referrals is available here.
Payment in full is due immediately following the appointment. See your provider’s Fee Payment Policy for more details.
Cancelled or non-attended appointment fees are charged for appointments are not attended or cancelled with less than 16 business hours notice.

Fee Increases: The Fees advised at one time may later increase in line with service provision cost increases and at least annually. Please review your provider’s fee schedule periodically.
Concerns regarding Fees: Private practitioners aim to be more efficient and responsive and to foster continuity of care. However, their services are funded solely by patient fees, allowing budgets that are substantially less than those of the government-funded public system. Medicare provides substantial assistance, but we understand that some families will prefer or need to seek free public health or lower-cost services. If so, ask your GP, as soon as possible, to redirect the referral to the appropriate public paediatric health service for your area, whether that is the Women's and Children's, Flinders, Lyell McEwin or Modbury Hospitals or a lower-cost private service. Bulk Billing is not offered. Concessions may only be offered in serious and unexpected situations of financial need to well-established patients (not new patients) to help continue care until the patient can transfer to the public system or until the financial difficulty is resolved. Concessions cannot be offered on an ongoing basis and will generally be agreed for upcoming appointments only.
