AI Scribe use by associated doctors

Associated providers may use an AI Scribe Tool with the patient's consent.

The AI scribe used has been designed and trained for Australian healthcare, including paediatric care. It captures the discussions and other verbal comments in consultations, acting like an admin assistant. The tool 'listens' and then, using generative AI technology, drafts structured clinical documents.

Doctors must review, edit, and approve all AI-generated documents, as errors in medication or patient details can occur. The recording and correction process also helps train the tool in the conventions and terminology of paediatric healthcare and professional correspondence.

The AI Records are stored securely in Australia, ensuring compliance with Australian privacy and healthcare regulations. The recording is only stored long enough to allow conversion into notes and letters before erasure.

The associated providers have found that using the AI Scribe helps them significantly, allowing them to

  • produce more detailed, accurate and better structured clinical notes and professional correspondence,

  • produce their letters more quickly,

  • better focus on the patient rather than on taking notes, improving communication.

  • ensure they cover all the matters needed for comprehensive assessment, review, and management planning.

Please raise any questions or concerns with your provider at the beginning of an appointment, even if they forget to ask. Your provider will be happy to explain their use of the AI Scribe and address your questions and concerns. If you decline consent to its use, the provider will conduct the consultation without the aid of the tool.
