Dr Rishi Agrawal | Consultant Paediatrician

MBBS FRACP

abn 57 413 013 503

I graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2002 and was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012. My paediatric training was predominantly completed at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and also supported by numerous years of training interstate and internationally in places such as North and South East Queensland, Melbourne, India, Papua New Guinea, Malawi and the UK.

I have extensive experience across the breadth of general pediatrics and am happy to see babies, children and adolescents up to 18 years of age. I have a particular interest in the provision of health care to migrant and rural children and children with acute medical issues or behavioural and learning difficulties.

I combine my private practice with public appointments on the staff of Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Every year, a number of doctors in the paediatric training program work in my general medical team. I supervise my team on the wards and as they consult in my Public Outpatients Clinic. I also consult in a private bulk-billed clinic at the WCH.

I combine my work at the WCH with a busy part-time private practice associated with and supported by the services of Prosper Paediatrics. I consult in their rooms at Toorak Gardens and Adelaide.

I engaged Prosper Paediatrics to provide the administrative services, support and consulting facilities I need to help me conduct my practice.

For bookings, requests, and information, for my private practices, please speak with the Prosper Paediatrics reception team.

Contacting or booking appointments in my private practice:

My reception team, Prosper Paediatrics, can be contacted during business hours each week regarding any requests or issues.

Unfortunately, due to very long waits and extremely tight bookings, I have closed my books to all new patient referrals.

I may consider acceptance of a referral, very occasionally, if sent via Healthlink (or Argus, Medical Objects or Referral Net) if it details significant or serious clinical concerns and

  • a pressing or urgent need for specialist paediatrician assessment, diagnosis and management regarding

    • medical concerns in infants, children and adolescents.

    • infant, toddler & preschooler developmental concerns.

  • need or request for a second opinion where the case is

    • a complex case;

    • your child has already recently seen and worked with another paediatrician and has appropriate health care in place;

    • there has been sufficient diagnostic progress made, as there will be a long wait until you can see me;

  • and details previous, current or planned clinical or allied health assessment, management or therapeutic pathways, referrals and interventions for the concern.

My private consulting days:

Except when taking leave, or on public holidays, I generally consult in my private practice on two Thursdays in most months (usually at the Toorak Gardens rooms and one Friday in most months ( at North Adelaide or Toorak Gardens).

Unfortunately, due to long wait times, my books are currently closed to new patient referrals.

(For an appointment with me or my team in the public system at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, ask your GP to write a referral. You can call the WCH on ph 8161700 to inquire about waiting times.)

Prosper Paediatrics have consulted with me to develop services, including policies, procedures and consulting facilities that allow me to offer optimal clinical care to my patients when needed.

My friends and colleagues will tell you that I am a very proud dad. I love family life and try to be very mindful of the importance of keeping time for my family.
