Dr Romain Briest, Paediatric Neurologist

Dr Romain Briest | Paediatric Neurologist

MBBS, FRACP | ABN 83 882 496 505

Dr Briest is a Paediatric Neurologist. He sees babies, children, and adolescents up to 18 years of age for neurological concerns, including headaches, tics, seizures, epilepsy, or where developmental delay may indicate a possible neurological component or cause.

He understands the impact a neurological condition can have on children and families and enjoys working with them to understand their diagnosis and help improve their lives.

He will work with and provide a management plan to your child’s GP or paediatrician.

Consulting days:

Except when taking leave and on public holidays, I consult privately at Prosper Paediatrics, North Adelaide on most Thursdays.

Prosper Paediatrics is my Reception and Admin Team. They can be contacted to manage any requests for me, during business days each week. I have engaged Prosper Paediatrics to provide administrative services and facilities to my independent private practice.

New Referral intake is very limited.

He is very heavily booked and has very limited capacity to accept New Patient referrals.

He cannot take on referrals for any patient who is under the care of (including with any review planned or offered if needed by) the paediatric neurology departments at the Women’s and Children’s or Flinders Hospitals. However, he may agree to provide a one-off appointment for provision of a second opinion.

His practice does not offer Nerve Conduction Testing.

Professional roles, training and experience.

Dr Briest combines his private practice with a public appointment at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He sees patients privately at Prosper Paediatrics at 20 Mann Terrace, North Adelaide.

He is a member of the RACP’s Australian and New Zealand Child Neurology Society and the Epilepsy Society of Australia, having gained admission to the College in 2021.

Dr Briest graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2012. He trained in paediatric neurology at the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. He has post-graduate training in epilepsy, focusing on the evaluation and management of complex epilepsy and also has a research interest in paediatric stroke and stroke-like illnesses. He is happy to be based in Adelaide with family and friends and the excellent life style available here.

When not at work, Dr Briest enjoys family time and in his spare time, reading fantasy fiction, investing a few too many hours in sprawling video games, and playing board games with friends.
