Referrers and other providers- patient correspondence and new patient referrals:
Secure messaging (ONLY) is
strongly preferred & requested FOR ALL PATIENT-SPECIFIC CORRESPONDENCE.
REQUIRED for all general paediatrician new patient referrals.
Dr Kent is the exception and is currently considering new patient referrals for children under 5 received by any method. The associated subspecialists also consider referrals sent by any method. Nonetheless, Secure Messaging is strongly preferred and requested for all patient correspondence.
All referrals should nominate the particular provider by their name. Unnamed general paediatrician referrals cannot be considered due to the providers’ extremely long wait times, overstretched capacity and book closures.
Secure Messaging addresses for all associated providers:
Healthlink EDI (drconway) -best and free to GPs
Argus (prosperp@argus.net.au)
Medical Objects (XP5065000QR)| or use the Doctor Recipient's Provider Number
ReferralNet (GEN11508) or use the Doctor Recipient's Provider Number
Postal Address for all associated providers
If secure messaging, fax or email are not possible,
Post to the provider at PROSPER PAEDIATRICS, 120 KENSINGTON ROAD, TOORAK GARDENS SA 5065.
However, general paediatric new patient referrals will not be accepted by this mode of delivery (apart, currently, from referrals named to Dr Thu Kent for children under 5 years of age ).
New Patient Referrals for General Paediatricians:
The General Paediatricians (except Dr Thu Kent) cannot receive or consider any new patient referral (including for previous patients not seen in 3 years) if sent by email, fax, post or delivered by hand.
Their books are closed.
Some may, very occasionally, consider acceptance of a very detailed referral* sent to them via Secure Messaging.
The administrative team has been stretched beyond capacity for at least 2 years and has been managing a huge number of new patient referrals and requests with no funding. We ask that you do not send any New Patient referrals via email, fax, post or by hand delivery and use ONLY SECURE MESSAGING.
*For a general paediatric new patient referral to be considered, it must be sent by Secure Messaging (all except Dr Kent currently) AND should detail significant or serious clinical concerns and
a pressing or urgent need for specialist paediatrician assessment, diagnosis and management regarding
medical concerns in infants, children and adolescents.
infant, toddler & preschooler developmental concerns.
and fully detail previous, current or planned clinical or allied health assessment, management or therapeutic pathways, referrals and interventions for the concern.
Other referral options and pathways
Please consider other referral options and pathways instead of or concurrently with referral to a paediatrician, including Mental Health Care Plans and Team Care Plans, psychology assessment and therapy for developmental, mental health, behavioural and learning concerns and ADHD and ASD; audiology for hearing or learning or attention concerns; play therapy for under 11; allied health for developmental assessment and therapy (including for ASD and ADHD concerns), online and community programs and appropriate paediatric medical or surgical subspecialist referral.
